April Doner

April Doner is a connector and artist committed to reviving mutual care within neighborhoods, nurturing cooperative local economies, and healing injustice. Originally from Grant, FL, April immersed herself in social change and community work since the age of 15 and joined the ABCD Institute in 2010. Her work has included ground-level neighborhood connection and power-building work in Sarasota, FL, co-leading UPRISE Art Collective, and practicing, working alongside neighbors and staff of Broadway United Community Church in Indianapolis, IN. April led a national team to coach and publish learnings from 24 libraries and museums for IMLS’ Community Catalyst Initiative. As an artist and storyteller, April documents local resilience and group processes using writing, photography, video, and live art. She most recently served as content curator for the Abundant Community website and co-founded Living World Studios, a cooperative company supporting social change movements through storytelling, visualization and strategic sense-making. She lives in Chicago with her 6 year old daughter Sophia and two charming cats, Solomon and Dahlia.
