Sashikala Lakshman
Lanka Jathika Sarvodaya Shramadana Sangamaya
Born and raised in Matale, a small city in Sri Lanka’s Central Province, Lakshman was raised in a close-knit family. Honesty, humanitarianism, integrity, and the value of education are qualities that her parents instilled in her. With their support, she embarked on a path that would shape her into the person she is today.
She completed her schooling in commerce and began a teaching career in 2005, later leaving the profession to work as a Program Coordinator for the Truth Seekers Project in Sarvodaya Shramadana Movement in Sri Lanka. Since 2007, she has engaged with many of Sarvodaya’s community development activities.
Beyond academia and professional endeavors, Lakshman’s passions include music, community involvement and educating and helping children. She love kids, and believes it is our collective responsibility to safeguard their rights, protect their dignity, and protect their lives so they may grow up to be individuals of integrity. She has engaged in numerous projects sponsored by the the Global Network of Religions for Children and Sarvodaya that support child safety, the prevention of child abuse, and well-being.
