Jarmiah Scott, known on stage as ‘Heart Cry’, is a poet, spoken word artist, activist, mentor and a passionate advocate for social justice. She has worked closely with The Black Star Project, The Woodlawn Restorative Justice Hub, Guitars Over Guns, Haven Studios and many other organizations across the city. In 2018, she was selected to perform in Breakout LIVE, a showcase of Chicago’s most inspiring activists, artists, and entrepreneurs at the iconic Studebaker Theater, where she shared the stage with incredible artists like Pinqy Ring and Hamilton actor Ari Asfar. She has also performed for CreativeMornings, WVON, Google, Fort Knotts studio, the Obama Foundation, and countless other venues. She is currently focusing on writing, releasing, and copyrighting her poetry while serving her community as a volunteer and peer mentor. Heart Cry is renowned as a talented, generous, and dedicated person who inspires her community through her words and actions.
